The author is able to explain well how the lives of autistic people differs from the non autistic ones (which is especially useful for people who don't have access to a diagnosis) and also how autistic people can integrate better into society by unmasking and changing the structure of society instead of living a life of a masked and therefore hidden being. The author is autistic by themselves and not only speaks from the perspective of a researcher but also lives by example their own research findings.

It focuses on ND women and the author has both autistic and ADHD traits.

Neurodiversity and capitalism

A book by Robert Chapman by the title 'Empire of Normality'. It newly came out in November 2023. It takes a look at Neurodivergency through the lens of Marxism and explores, how Capitalism created the idea of the 'Average Man', and how concepts of industrial productivity were turned into social norms and health. I found it quite enlightening and offers some very refreshing and insightful perspectives. It constitutes a Neurodivergent Marxism. The only critique I would have, is that the author states that ND people will only truly live free when Capitalism is finally abolished. Personally I think that it is important to create a space - a seat at the table - and change in the system to be more inclusive, instead of waiting for Capitalism (Varoufakis would argue that Capitalism is already dead, and we live in the age of Techno Feudalism) to come to an end. I would recommend it highly, and I think it will play an important role in the discussion about Neurodivergency.

This is an ND-friendly book about running chores, healthcare and cleaning. Authored by a mum of two who also has ADHD.
